Hey all. Kinda new to this. have an old larson. white, with blue, red and white stripes. Has been neglected for its whole life. I am using "MaryKate, ON/OFF Hull and bottom cleaner". It took the water mark off perfectly. I was then going to use 3M Super Duty Rubbing compound and then "four seasons Boat Wax".
My question can I use the rubbing compound over the decal stripes down the length of the boat? There are a bunch of scrapes in the stripes and didn't know if the rubbing compound would get inside somehow and take them off. Any information would be great. Is rubbing compound only use on fiberglass surfaces or on decals/paint also?

I would avoid compounding the decals if possible but you might want to consider wet sanding with multiple grits to get to thenet layer of gel to bring out a new shine and then compound and and buff. Most of the time if the oxidation isn't completely removed it will just come back after a season or 2 it is allot of work but the results are worth it.

avoid the stickersl......chances are that you will burn them with the compound and a machine.

stickers can be wet sanded with a 800 grit if need be.
