I was recently given a boat from a friend, it is my first boat and will be a learning experience. I have no prior knowledge with boats, but have been working on car engines and 2 stroke dirt bikes for years. The boat was sitting in an outdoor storage yard for the past 10 years and was put away and never touched again. She doesn't remember if it was winterized so I have no idea the condition of the engine. I removed the cowl and from the exterior the wiring and everything looks to be in very good shape. She had the carbs rebuilt the last year she used it and it ran fine when she parked it. So my question is the following:

1. What basic things should I look for and start replacing/changing? I am assuming the water pump, impeller, flush the lower unit's fluids, drain the gas, and maybe clean the carbs, plugs and wires?
2. Should I replace the fuel pump as well or play that by ear?
3. Are there any other basics that I should look out for with the engine?

Thanks in advanced.
