I just received a used MC Y pipe that was in remarkable shape until I examined shutter flappers. They are almost crap! They are of the old single round pin hinge style. The boots or exhaust bellows covered them in the photo. The shutters were in poor shape. My old y pipe shutters are in great shape but of the rectangle design( part that affixes shutter to aluminum y pipe wall.) I assume this design is more sturdier? I suppose that I could use a saber saw to cut out rectangle so they new style shutters will fit? Any suggestions?

It seems you may want to consider getting the proper y pipe and resell the older one you just purchased // The newer ones are an improved design.

Where is article? Please provide link and I will read-THX! FYI: I have found replacements for rectangle design and round hole design. However, my replaced y pipe had good and not burnt insert type shutters. I used them. I needed one rectangle type.
