I have been searching for parts to rebuild a LU for an 89 Mariner 30a. I need to replace my drive shaft. I can find a new drive shaft, but the upper and lower roller bearing, sleeve, and shim(s) for the drive shaft are no longer available. If I can manage to remove those items without damaging them is it worthwhile to try to rebuild a LU with those used parts.
Also the O-ring for the bearing carrier on the prop shaft is no longer available, and I would need to reuse it as well. Think it would seal, or would I likely have water leakage issues?
I found a used LU for 700, seams a bit steep, what do you guys think a used Lu should go for on this model? I?m kinda worried about spending the money for the new drive shaft if I cant get my used bearing back on. And worse yet maybe I cannot properly seal up the LU due to the lack of availability for the O-ring on the bearing carrier.
