I am having problems with my reverse latch locking when in reverse in water. When out of water it locks down and can not be lifted I even tryed with shifter in reverse and still the same. If in water when put in reverse outdrive lifts up. Can anyone tell me why this would happen and how I can fix this. Motor is aq231b 275 outdrive. Thank you for any help

Re: reverse latch

Really yank on that drive when it's on the trailer and I bet it comes up. You would be surprised how much force is put on that latch when in reverse and in the water.

Worn paws that hang onto the cross bar is the normal problem. If it's clean of barnacles and other marine growth.

Re: reverse latch

Finally got a chance to get over to boat today and I tried really yanking on the outdrive in nuetral and reverse and it seems to stay locked down either way. Just trying to figure out why it is doing this in the water. If i need to buy rebuild kit I will but just want to make sure its not just an adjustment before I spend 192$
Thank you
