Reverse lock mechanism and Tilt Motor

I just added a OEM Tilt motor to my 1991 Force outboard 70 hp. There is a Reverse lock with connecting wire on the underside of motor, I am thinking because there originally was not Trim motor there. Now the trim motor piston is right in the same area where that reverse lock wire is. Question….do I no longer need that reverse lock mechanism since I have the tilt motor in…does that now serve as a reverse lock of sorts? if so, should I just disconnect the wire to the “old“ reverse lock or anything else I need to do with it?

thanks!

If you now have a T&T unit (Trim and Tilt) the reverse lock is not needed.
Remove it or disconnect it.
You can check the different between manual tilt and T&T at Crowley marine.
Look at Mercury outboard, Mariner and Mercruiser parts online then go for Force outboard 1991 70Hp.

Thanks. I see in the manual that the diagram version with Trim Motor does not show the manual reverse lock anywhere, but does on the diagram for the version I have (which originally didn’t have a trim motor). So I believe you are right it is not needed now….I’ll disconnect it. Awesome thank you!
