Reverse Lock-out

I am intalling a new revers lock-out on my mercruiser and need to know what the marking are on the housing. The arm has an alignment mark and the housing has one. Is this to be align in "N" or Reverse? The markings on the housing look like this " V |||" what is the signifance of the hash marks?

Shift into full rev. while turning the prop shaft clock wise, when line the V with the second line on the valve lock cover--Bob

What has turning the prop have to do with it? The only thing that moves on the reverse lock is the rod conected to the shifter cables.

You asked a quistion and I got out a Mercruiser manual and looked it up for you, I only quoted the manual guess you should ck with mercury---Bob
