reverse lock questions

1979 Bayliner Mutiny 1700 MU, Vovo Penta AQ 140 A / 280 OD. Been working through some issues on this recently purchased boat. during a shakedown I realized the reverse lock wasnt working. I have moved the cross bolt from the center position to the aft hole and now it locks down, however the trailering support bar ( bail type) now interferes, The cross bolt has three holes it can go in, and there is a smaller hole above and between the middle and aft hole, anyone know the correct orientation of the trailering support, and thrust support pin? Ive googled, and looked at pictures still not sure....Help!!!!

Common problem on 280 and 290...from memory the reverse locking pin machanism and hook wears. Best to replace...or for a cheap fix and no danger of shallow water...cable tie it down.
