Reverse or drive gear bushing free to spin or pressed in?

Hello. On my gearcase prop shaft, one of the pinon gear bushings seems to be pressed in. I cant remove it by hand while the other slips on and off freely... Is this correct?

On the one the oil holes are aligned but on the other it would turn as it desires with the oil hole often not aligned.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Look at it this way.----In neutral there is motion between the forward gear and the propeller shaft.---When in forward gear there is no motion between the forward gear and the propeller shaft.------In forward gear the reverse gear still spins and opposite to the propeller shaft rotation.------Therefor the full floating bushing on reverse.----I hope that is clear.

Thanks for confirming that it is correct on my unit. A bit of water got into the lower and gave me some baby puke. Nothing seems worn and this was the only thing that seemed out of place.... Other than bad lube.

I get what you're saying about what's turning when and Im sure the engineers knew what they were doing, it just seems weird to me that one floats and the other doesnt. Kind of like cams in a V8... If they spin you got problems.

Read post #2 carefully and it tells you that the relative rotation between reverse bushing and the propshaft is roughly 5500 RPM in forward gear.----There is NO rotation at all on the forward gear bushing and the propshaft.----Hence the different set-up on the 2 gears !!
