Reverse P/N search

Hello all,

I need some help but first I'll offer an explanation. My father passed away in 2005 due to cancer. He had a boat repair marina and all of the tools and supplies needed in such a buisness. Well, since then all of this has been sitting in the shop. I am trying to sort all of the misc. parts. I was wondering if anyone new of some sort of a reverse parts lookup that would give me the application and description for such things as gaskets, seals, cables, etc...

Thanks in advance

Re: Reverse P/N search

Iweld, this probably belongs in the general outboard forum above and the mods may move it. If the part is for Johnson/Evinrude, you can go to this site, click on View Parts Catalogs, do an Advanced search, supply your part number, and all the applicable motors will be found. http://epc.brp.com/login.aspx?Retur...rands=ej&lang=E&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

Thanks BoatBuoy, but the website gives me an error screen when i try to get to the catalog page. I'm more interested in Mercury/Mercruiser right now. I grabbed a box of misc. parts last time I was at Dads old shop to see what I could figure out. Most of them are Merc parts.

Also, we've got I'm guessin around 700+ OEM service manuals for Johnson Evenrude, Yamaha, Mercruiser, OMC, and others. I tried to sell four of them on ebay and ended up selling one for a dollar....not quite fair market value. I'm not intending to make a fortune on this stuff, all sales will go back to his surviving wife. I don't want to just give this stuff away, but I can't stand to see them just sitting on a shelf collectig dust when they could be usefull to someone .

I don't know much about Ebay someone suggested I start an "ebay store"? And put all the parts on there. I'd just like to know what the parts are for so I can list them with application and some descriptions.

Thanks

Re: Reverse P/N search

Sorry you got just a buck for that manual. Try putting the manuals up with a Buy It Now price only, set at just a touch lower than others of the same vintage.

Also, a good, complete title for the auction, a good description, and, above all, a photo of the thing (use a scanner), and you should do just fine.

Same thing with the parts. You can probably make some decent money with that new old stock stuff, but it's a lot of work.

Visit the eBay sellers discussion area on eBay. Ask some questions. Most of the folks there will be glad to help you.
