reverse rotating prop will it run the same as a normal rotating prop?

i have a 1986 sun runner,it has a 270 outdrive,the shifting cable has been put on the opposite side of shift lever and has a reverse prop on it,will it still run the same.torque, speed?of course compared to the same pitch and cup as another to be compared to.

Yes the counter rotating prop will perform the same as a clockwise rotating prop.
Assuming the same design technology.
Just the prop torque steer and handling characteristics will be opposite of the clockwise prop.
The counter rotating prop will be harder to find and likely cost more.

Using the left hand prop (counterclockwise rotation) with the reversed control cable now uses the reverse gear to drive the prop shaft. Obviously it works. However, the reverse gear inside the outdrive has different bearings and I suspect that it is not a good idea to do this.

Perhaps some of the I?O guys will chime in here with more opinions.

That model series of Volvo Penta drives do not "care" which direction they spin, very simple to switch also... :wink:
