Re: reverse

The shifting problem is no doubt due to excessive linkage play, but the trick is to find just which linkage.

What is the model number of the engine? Perhaps with the model number, we can advise further.

Re: reverse

MCM..... Unfortunately I retired before that engine came into existence and I do not have the book on it. Soooooo, there's not any advice I could give with any authority here. Throwing it back to you my friend.

Re: reverse

I believe that your model has the connector for the shift shaft behind the water intakes. If it is not installed correctly, or if the plastic keeper is missing or damged, it may cause the problem.

Re: reverse

Is this motor connected to a control box? If so there could be excessive play in the throttle/shift cables.
