I'm new to this forum and are in dire need of help. I have a 2004 19.4 Bayliner with a 3.0L MerCruiser Alpha One. The problem is that, in my desire to get back in the water after winter, I inadvertently switched the battery cables to the battery, got a big spark, and now no power to electrical devices. I've checked the fuse panel and all fuses are fine. I've tried to trace the red battery cable to either a fuse or breaker, but can't locate either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Reversed Battery Cables = No Power

Sounds like the main breaker on the engine, and/or the fuse in the ignition switch harness.

Main breaker (if you have one) is located on the engine, on the same bracket as the starter motor solenoid.

The fuse in the ignition harness will be inside the instrument panel.

Good luck.. I hope everything else is ok, but you may have damaged the ignition system components. I'm sure you'll be back if you have 'Cranks but won't start/no spark'....

Ayuh,... Right at the end of that wire, where it attaches to the starter, is the Lawyer's Fuse,...
You need a New 1 from Merc...

Re: Reversed Battery Cables = No Power

I went to my local Merc dealer and got a new fuse. I'll install it today and see what happens. Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate the help.
