Re: Riddle

He makes $10 when he sells it for $70.
Then he loses $10 when he buys it back for $80.
He then sells it for $90, but is in the hole $10 from the buy back for $80, so he ends up with $80.
This is $20 more than the $60 he bought it for, leaving him with a profit of $20.

How'd I do?

He bought for $140.00 and sold for $160.00
so he's up $20.00 less taxes and handling fee's.

Re: Riddle

the answer is 20, but I keep coming up with ten!!!

he had sixty, makes ten selling it for seventy, but LOSES THE TEN when he buys for 80, so hes got nothing gained!!!!

then he gets the ten back when he sells for 90

arrrgh!!

Re: Riddle

Assume he started with 70 dollars in his pocket.
buys horse for 60 has 10 left in his pocket
Sells horse for 70 has 80 left in his pocket
Buys horse for 80 has 0 left in his pocket
Sells horse for 90 had 90 left in his pocket
90 is 20 more than 70. So he made 20 out all the transactions.

hopefully that will clear it up for those who are confused.

Re: Riddle

maybe cents would work better ...

six pennies to buy the horse, sell it for seven pennies, get my pennies back and an extra penny

but then I want to buy it back for eight pennies, so thats two pennies more than I bought it for, so a penny gets subtracted ...

lose six pennies, get seven, lose eight ... leaves me a penny behind

but then I sell it for NINE pennies, and get the penny back, ONE penny

ARRRRGHHHHHHHHHH!!!

how come it works selling it for 16 pennies and buying for 14 pennies, but it wont work following it logically as it unfolds????

anyones 2 cents is appreciated here!!!!

Re: Riddle

Look at it as two different horses.
He bought one@ $60 sold@ $70 =$10 profit.
Bought another@ $80 sold@ $90 =$10 profit.
20 bucks total. He never lost any money to depreciation.
