I am rigging control cables to a johnson 70hp 4 stroke (j70PL4sn). The cables are OEM from Johnson. I have one part I don't recognize and have no idea what it is or where it goes. It is metal and about 3 inches long and has a "loop" in both ends. Can anyone identify what this is and where it goes? There were no directions with the cables or controls for connecting to the motor so I don't want to proceed until I know where this goes. Any help greatly appreciated.

That sounds like some kind of cable guide/clamp.Each loop holds one cable? If it has mounting holes in it,determine if it attaches to the contol box or the motor itself.Look for matching holes. Some parts are for certain installations and MAY not be required.Hope this helps....
