Hi all,

I've got a 16' aluminum that is pushed OK with my 15 hp evinrude... But, eventually I'll either
want to get a bigger motor (it's rated for a 35) or maybe (?) buy a second 15 hp OMC. I really like my
motor, and I like the idea of having redundancy. I could rig a coupler bar that would connect the
steering plate of 2 motors (it's got holes for connecting to a remote steering cable), and then just
hold the tiller of either one... but what about the throttle? I guess one could just use the 2 twist grips,
but other than running WOT, it might be a pain to keep them even... maybe also dangerous in not
being able to chop the power off quickly. It would be great to be able to link the throttle linkages
by cable or something so that twisting one moves both. Anyone done this?

Aside from the throttle Q, any suggestions making a coupler bar? It would be nice to have one that
is quick to disconnect & reconnect (so I could lift one motor and troll with the other.... some adjusment
for length (like a tie rod end or turnbuckle) might be nice too, to allow for easy adjustment of
their alignment (?).

Anyone running a dual tiller steer rig? Thoughts?

Brent

if you really wanted to do it you could run a manual choke cable (cable inside a metal tube)from the carb linkage of one the the carb linkage of the other. and use a kicker motor linkage for steering. but I would just get a bigger motor if it was me.

Never seen a dual tiller set-up. Sounds like a pain.

It would look cool but would be a pain.
You will go faster on less gas with one 30 hp,
and have less weight and complication.
