I need to replace a kinked hot shoe throttle cable. If I decide to go back to the side mounted hand throttle what length cable do I get. Any tricks to feeding cable through from engine?

Question- If I decide to go back to the side mounted hand throttle what length cable do I get.

Answer- Measure from center of where the control box is along the top of your boat to the point on engine where it will hook to get a general idea.

Question- Any tricks to feeding cable through from engine?

Answer- Get what I call a electricians wire and run it from the motor end to the control box location.
Then make a small hook on the end and hook the cable to it.
Black tape it good so as not to hang on anything on it's way up to you.
Just pull it easy to get the end to you.
That's what I do and it works well.
The wire should be stiff enough to run fairly straight.

Hope this helps some.

Spinner_Bait Nut (ADmiral 15565.
Thanks for the reply. I still haven't made up my mind whether to remove the hot shoe. The boat is a 20 foot 1990 bass boat. It had the hot shoe in it when I got it. I have had the hot shoe on other bass boats but that was 15 years ago. I haven't taken apart the side control box so I don't know how complicated it is to install a new cable in it. The shift cable is there but again until I take it apart I won't know much.''Thanks again. Good fishing. Ps I live on a 30 acre lake in south florida. Great bass fishing.
