Is there a simple way to rig an overheat buzzer on my boat. Did one for the oil pressure, but not sure how to tap into the switch on my t stat housing. Seloc manual shows those wires going to the ECM, but not coming out.

Why do you keep using that POS Seloc when you can download the real manuals up in the adults only sticky?

With a 2000 boat and EFI engine, you already have an alarm. Question is, why doesn't it work ???? Wouldn't you rather fix what you have than to rig something else up?

Whatever. No audible sound on startup or overheat, and its not the buzzer.

Re: rigging temp alarm

Your reply made no sense, do you want to fix your OEM system or build your own? Whatever isn't an answer.

ts not the buzzer

Does that mean you tested the buzzer and that your boat does have an alarm system that is inop? How did you test the buzzer to know that it's ok.

My reply had nothing to do with smart or dumb.. It was in response to the disrespectful tone you gave to one of the most respected, knowledgeable contributors to this forum when you didn't get the answer you wanted. Was that simple enough ?

Whichever, either or, might be a better response. Don't care which direction I take just looking to get something to work. I am getting no signal to a newly replaced buzzer. Mr pauly, Your little picture was just as offensive to me as was my response to you. Do you not get that?

Re: rigging temp alarm

You have a temperature alarm built into the ECM for overheat. The ECT sensor talks to the ECM and in an overheat will sound the alarm.

Your oil pressure alarm is NOT through the ECM, and neither is the gear lube reservoir. The wires on the sensors are at the end of the line and are a ground, not power. Power comes from the igntion switch purple wire for power to the buzzer. When the sensors close due to low oil pressure they complete the ground and the alarm sounds.
Look at your original oil pressure switch, it should have a tan/blue wire going to it. That is ground from the buzzer. If you take the connector off the switch and touch the wire to a clean ground while the ignition switch is in the run position, the alarm should sound.

Thanks for the input, Don. I completely get it with the OP switch. Did not know how the overheat worked. Any idea how to trouble shoot it? The buzzer is new.
