hi all...I'm looking to buy a family boat for the first time.I was looking at a 2004 Rinker 192 Captiva with a 4.3 Volvo Penta and was wondering if anyone out there has any good\bad experiences with the Rinker line.I'm not sure if this is a quality made boat or not and would appreciate anyone's input on this. Thanks

I think the Rinker is an excellent boat. The captiva line is very nice looking also.

I had a 2000 Rinker 180 BR for three seasons. It was great and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one when the time comes for another boat.

Dont get hung up on a Rinker until you have seen other boats in your price range. While a Rinker is not a bad boat,it certainly is not a top quality boat. There are many higher quality boats that are not much more expensive.Rinker has always made a price leader boat. They have recently gone to making bigger boats and they look to be a higher quality of Rinkers past.Regal makes a very good boat in your size range and there are others too.Charlie

There are fancier bowriders than Rinker. But for their price level I would say Rinker gives good value. Each of us has a different comfort zone on the price ladder. IMHO you could certainly do worse than Rinker.

Kelly Cook

Re: Rinker Boats

I was looking at the same boat as you a couple of years ago and found that Rinker offered a lot of extras for the same money as other brands such as MPI on the 4.3, six disc four speaker sound system, walk-thru transom, snap in carpet over full fiberglass floor, snap on travel cover, swing away tongue trailer with chrome wheels. I'm not sure how much wood is in the stringers and transom of the Rinker line these days, but it is not a bad idea to look at a wood free boat as many manufacturers are going that route these days and it would be nice not to have to worry about rot. Good luck.

Re: Rinker Boats

thanks so much to all you guys who responded, it's awesome to have experienced boaters out there to bounce questions off of. By the way quantumleap, I have found the same as you in that the rinker does offer more extras as standard features and the stringers are fibreglass, not too sure about the transom though. I have checked out the Regal as well as the Campion, both being nice boats, but I sure like the interior of the Rinker i.e. the walk through transom. Sorry about writing a novel here but there are just so many boats out there for sale, new and used, that it's hard to decide.

Never been in one but I really like the styling. I didn't realize there's a Rinker dealer out this way.
