For a 1988 206 captiva. This forum is not letting me upload a picture, not sure why.

I have looked all over online and have had no luck finding this style rub rail. I got side swiped last year while towing and a section of it got ripped off. I only need about a 5-6 foot piece. Both the aluminum and the rubber.

Hoping someone here can guide me to the right place. Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard.

You need 3 posts before you can attach pics. But if you click on the Forum Help in the sig below and the photo hosting link, follow the use of a photo hosting site like Photobucket and pasting an IMG code into your post.

Have you looked at Taco Marine rub rails in the iboats store? http://www.iboats.com/Taco-Marine/dm...tr.brand%3A251

I'm still getting an error when trying to post a picture (I tried uploading after this post). It's a jpg from my phone but it's saying invalid file type.

Anyone else know of a store or place to look for these?

Try posting a pic again, you need a minimum of 3 posts as a new member to attach pics. You hit the magic number so maybe it will work now.

Do try the Photobucket method if posting directly from the phone doesn't work. You probably need the PB app.

The lower,or long, leg was 3/4", height was 1.25", not sure on the height of the rubber part. I will double check tonight.

OK, when you get that final, I'll see what I can do for you. I won't make any promises, It's hard to match older to newer rub rails. No harm trying, though.

What I said above for measurements are correct. The gap for the rubber part is about a 1/2", maybe a little more, looks like when screwed to the boat the gap closes up a bit?

Unfortunately... manufacturers like to have things made off from standard sizes, so they can make you buy from them to repair or replace...

Then 20+ years later you can't get the same trim pieces.

You may have to replace the whole rub rail instead of putting in a patch section.
The patch section will always show that the rub rail was patched....

Any luck finding something? Even something close would be fine, I really don't want to replace the whole works.
