I have a 97 Bayliner Capri 2050 with no engine that I was told originally came with a 5.7.

I put another 5.7 in, but cannot decide which riser gasket to use.
There are at least three different materials I have seen and the internet searches I have found have left me just as confused as before I started.

There are paper types and some metallic looking gaskets...but can anyone tell me what would have been original to my boat?

I am missing the exhaust flappers (original Y-pipe). I cant find a part number online to point me to what I need...I see a lot of manufacturers and a lot of sizes...

Thanks,
Anthony

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,.... The Oem original gaskets are the same as the current Merc gaskets, a metalic/ carbon gasket,....

Yer shutters need to match the profile of the top of the y-pipe, 3" round, 4" oval, or whatever ya got,.....

Welcome.I am surprised to see a 5.7 in a 20.5 ft Capri??????Sounds like a lot of motor for a small boat. With that much weight in a small boat I would not float that rig without installing flappers which some may tell you are not necessary. On your rig THEY ARE 100% NECESSARY,if you dont want water intrusion and catastrophe.Charlie

Once you have the boat in the water, measure the height between the waterline and the top of the exhaust elbow. If it's less than 13"(check the book on that figure), you will need to install exhaust risers. ..
