Re: Riser Gasket Question
The gasket itself is supposed to be the sealant.
Otherwise, what is a gasket?

If you feel the need for a sealant, use sealants in _thin_ amounts, and you should be ok. Never use sillycone (RTV). Permatex #2 or the Hi Tack that charlie talked about are both ok.

What John at Osco did say to charlie, or said unclearly, was that thick applications of gasket sealant will prevent proper tightening of the riser to the gasket, thus preventing compression of the gasket, and in the end will just move out of the way of the water that tries to come through it - CAUSING leaks, not sealing them.
