Looks like you have the dry joint version. They can be a bit pricey esp if you buy OE. See if Barr aftermarket makes these for your engine....you have to replace that because even though the manifold has antifreeze in it, if it rots through up near the exit there may be a chance that the raw water can back down into the center exhaust passage which of course is open to the exhaust manifold...

If you did have a full closed system those riser gaskets would have been block-off gaskets and there would have been a hose connection on the riser

pic #1 shows a standard dry joint elbow running raw water thru it, that is a half system. A full system blocks off those passages and uses a hose barb directly to the elbow.

OK- I'm confused then....I have one hose to the elbow and one hose to the riser and I have a gasket with both passages blocked- not questioning your knowledge gasket.jpgWP_20180401_08_09_21_Pro.jpg as I have zip, just want to make sure I get the right parts!

The riser is the return coolant from the manifolds back to the circulation pump. The elbow is the raw water discharge from the heat exchanger. You should need two new elbows, new blocked gaskets, new thru gaskets and new bolts

so I have closed cooling or 1/2? From what I'm understanding, I have closed.

I'm looking at elbows and I see this part number in an 01 and 02 version...how do I know which one I need? [h=1]864309T01 - Exhaust Elbow[/h]

Thats better, now you do have a full closed system, disregard and corrosion or debris in those ports because nothing flows thru them
