Rochester 2 barrel carburetor dies every time after running at high rpm. It idles on land and at the dock perfectly but after running at high rpm for 20 minutes in the ocean it dies and will not start back up. I have to wait for about half an hour before it will start again. I have already replaced the fuel lines, filters and just installed a new Carter fuel pump. I have checked the gas vent line and it is cleared. It seems there is no gas in my fuel line when this happens. It also makes a vacuum noise when it dies.

If you pump the throttle do you see any gas going in the carb?

Yes there's gas coming out of the jets when throttle.

Did you try pumping the throttle right after it quit running? Dump out the filter into a glass jar and see if any water or junk is in there.
Try opening the fuel cap when this happens, if there is a release of vacuum, then the vent isn't clear. Maybe you are wrong about the vent.

After it quits running I tried pumping the throttle and it will start only for a little bit then it would die again. My fuel pump and clear plastic filters would be empty. As for the gas cap, I lost it when I was trying to vent the gas tank when the boat died on me. So now all I have is a plastic bag rolled into a ball for a gas cap. LOL. The boat also came with a electric fuel pump. Should I use the electric pump when the boat quits to isolate if the problem is the carburetor or the newly installed Carter fuel pump? I wonder why this boat has a electric fuel pump and also a mechanical fuel pump?

That shouldn't happen with a carb engine. Got any pics of how it is hooked up?

My daughter says my boat is afraid of the ocean, my dad says my boat only runs on land and Vessels Assist is threatening canceling my tow membership. LOL.

Some of them electric pumps have a filter built into them,or are attached right to the pump. You should not need it anyway, take it out,I bet it's not marine rated anyway.

I have read a post that suggested it might be electrical and it might be the coil when the engine gets hot. Temperature on motor was 150.
