I am rebuilding my rochester 2bbl carb and found my main acceleation hesitation issue. The inlet check ball for the accelerator pump is jammed not letting any fuel into the accelerator pump. How can I remove this check ball? I have tried:

1. PB Blaster
2. Carb Cleaner
3. 125 PSI of air pressure on the other side to blow it out.
4. Drill it out, afraid I am going to go through the carb body because the ball is harder than the body.

I answered my own question:

Drill a hole from the opposite side through the body and poke it out. I realize this leaves a hole in the carb body that must be safely plugged...if that is not possible time for a new carb.

they come out if you turn the carb over and tap it on a hard surface to jar it loose...had to do it several times...

or your way....

Re: Rochester 2GC-2v problem

The ball was seized in place with rust pretty darn good. I had to pound on it hard with an awl and a sledge hammer. I was able to thread the hole so that the JB weld can get a good grip. The hole was too small to use a bolt and get a reliable seal or I would have taken that route. At least this does explain why my boat 'fell on its face' when accelerating.

Looks like I am going to have to take the JB weld off and plug it. From the reading I have done JB weld and the new 10% crap gas we have do not seem to be compatible.
