Rochester carb conversion to electric choke

I have a rochester quadrajet that is in nice shape. It has a manifold mounted mechanical choke set up. I would like to move this carb to a new vortec manifold.....which does not have a set up to mount the divorced choke.

they sell kits to convert rochesters to electric, but they rely on mounting the choke body to the spot on the manifold where the old mechanical mounted........which is gone on the vortec.

Can I rig up a bracket to hold the electric choke body in the position it needs to be?

can anyone see a problem with this?

thanks

I dont see a problem. I had to fabricate a new bracket for my Qjet and mounted it to the carb itself. Works fine.

Todd, thanks for the reply. where did you hook the wires up for your electric choke? by the way my boat is a 1979 Century with the same outdrive......I have lots of 5.0 parts if you ever need....

I just ran the wires into the wiring harness since it was right there. Parts, huh? You got any exhaust manifolds? PM me with what you have, I might take some of those parts off your hands.

Could you take a picture of that bracket? I have the same problem right now. If you could do that, that would be splendid.

Thankyou
