I just dropped off my baby at Rockwall Marine in Rockwall, Texas. Someone please come on and tell me she is going to be all right and they are more than capable to do a good job. I am so stressed out right now :(

What are they doing to the boat? Waxing it, giving a major engine overhaul or ???

Sorry, the boat is a 1982 Glastron with a 115 Johnson. They will be investigating a loss of electrical power to the motor then doing a good tune up and some housekeeping elsewhere, some electronics, bilge pump, etc. So far I was recommended that thier mechanic Glyne is the best around, I have exchanged emails with their owner Tommy, who was very nice and I got to speak with John when I took the boat in. He seemed very customer friendly and made the process of my first time leaving my boat with someone else much easier.

Well the mere fact they're communicating to someone who has an 28 year old boat shows some professionalism, usually that's reserved for newer boat owners.

Well I got a call back this afternoon with a complete quote for all the work requested and at a fair, in my opinion, price. He said that I could probably pick her up Friday! Now if they deliver that fast with quality work I have found my home in Texas for marine work.

Sounds good so far... how did you come to choose them ? Where they recommended to you by a boat owner ?

Not a lot of boat mechanics around here. Rockwall is lucky as lake Ray Hubbard is right there and close to NE Dallas,Rockwall proper, Rowlett and Garland. Probably supports a local market of 200,000 residents. There are several marinas and a very nice county park with all the amenities.

This proximity along with a good assortment of younger white and blue collar workers makes for an environment where a dealer can make a decent living and along with that surely comes the ability to treat customers the way they want to be treated.....repeat/referral business the name of the game. Course it can't compare to a place like Cape Hatteras, but geez gimme a break. This is only a 40,000 acre lake.

I never used them so I can't personally comment. I am a bit far from there and do my own work.

I may be way off, and I apologize if I am, but this seems like spam to me.

Re: Rockwall Marine, TX

I was referred by Greg Owens, owner of Ms. Tooties Boatworks, to this place because Glyne, the chief mechanic, used to work for Greg when he owned a marina. Glyne is supposed to be the best in the area when it comes to what he does so the rest of the shop is being judged secondary and I am happy so far.

As far as the spam suggested, all I have to say is lol. Look at my join date, I must have lurked until just the right time to pounce lol. Just give them a call and ask about my boat or better yet come along with me when I pick her up.

If you believe that sharing experience with others and receiving feedback is spam, then you should go back to reading the ad pages in the newspaper because this is the internet.

I will update when I get her in the water for a test drive to finalize my first experience with this outfit. Anyone wanna come :p
