Re: rockybottom

couple of issues here.
first and formost is there were NO carburated four stroke 200 ever imported to the US.
second is even if it were a carbed 2 stroke it would have NOTHING to do with a cylinder or head gasket.
the ONLY way to place water in a carb fuel bowl OR a Vapor seperator IS water in the fuel tank.
remember with todays fine ethanol blends large tanks can hold up to and over 20 gallons of water that is now a PART of the fuel and CANNOT be filtered with a standard water seperator.
however this homogeanous water/ethanol/gasoline mix will fall out of solution with heat.
then it collects in fuel bowls and VST tanks.
dunno what to do other than pump the tank, remove the fuel sender, mop the tank and make sure any deck fill orings or seals are intact and not cracking.
post us a model number so we know exactly what fuel and ign system we are disscussing.

Re: rockybottom

NO NO NO
most dry gas treatments rely on ethanol or methanol to absorb water, thats the problem your fighting now is the ethanol in the gas has absorbed all the water it can hold and is phase seperating.
look up super saturated solvents in any 8th grade science book for a further explanation.
you have to remember boat fuel tanks until this year in CA and next year for the other 49 states are vented to the atmosphere.
ethanol can hold up to 2/3rds its volume in water soaked directly from the vent system. the more humid the air the more and faster it occurs.
so if you hold say 200 gallons thats,if you actually have 10% Ethanol, 20 gallons of ethanol that can hold an easy 12 gallons of water which then tends to fall out of solution when it hits the engine systems.
aint our govt wonderful ?
next problem is that the ethanol over time, with its water will fall out of solution and sit like a terd at the bottom of the tank.
problem with simply pumping the tank bottom is the gasoline remaining is only 65 octane or so.
Ethanol and methanol are both "given" a 100 octane rating as you cant make it detonate.
to keep that fuel at 87 or so octane they derate the gasoline base stock before blending.
like I say, aint or govt great at the knee jerk reactions that make a few rich and the rest of us suffer.
