problem was stalling when idle shut off at 500 rpm. cleaned carb (twice), did carb kit, changed fuel/water seperator, changed plugs, de-carbed cylinder heads, and changed primer bulb, hooked up to separate 5 gallon tank and problem persists. Rough idle with it jumping form 600 to 800 rpms on start up need to keep keyswitch choking every now and then. Once the engine is warm it seems ok (not like it was, just sounds jittery)and not compared to the other engine #2. Seems to run great WOT no missing or spits very smooth. Strong out of the hole and everything. It just seems like idle when its cold. Noticed some oil on the tips of the carb shutters or flappers ( not sure of the technical name) I am not sure if thats normal or not. Doesn't seem to shut of anymore just coughs every now and again but the keyswitch choke fixes that. Any thoughts. I would like to get this thing perfect

Re: rodbolt, followup 97 200hp

I think I got it this time. Adjusted the air pilot screws on all carbs to what manual suggests and seemed to steady out the idle and stopped the intermittent cough. I will definitely confirm that in the morning when I cold start it and let it idle. Is it normal for the carbs to be cold and condensate on the outside.

condensation is normal with carbs, its caused by the effects of the venturi.
also check the thermosensor and the crank position sensor.
ALL adjustments MUST be as per the service manual and step by step or it may never run correctly.
