Hi Guys,

I have a bit of a problem with my 1998 larson flyer 4.3 l volvo penta. i blew a head gasket so i replaced it my problem is when i tighten down the rocker on the head i lose all compression but if i losen them just enough so that the springs dont go down i get compression back but when i do that the rocker arm guide (if that what its called?) its what the rockers sit on stay lose. I was wondering if there is any special way to set these.

Also if any 1 knows if there is a difference between a 96 and a 98 4.3l apart for the rocker arms which on a 96 does not have the guide. Are the lifters differnet?

Thanks in advance

No lifters are the same. Are you giving it enough time for the lifters to bleed down???????

What do you mean by bleed down? i put the push rods back on the lifters the put the roker arm support on the the rockers and with the Engine at TDC i tighten them down. Is that the correct way?

depends on the motor. 1 turn from "0" lash or their torqued to 20ft/lbs
