right now i have 8' 2x4 carpet bunks on my 18.5' flat bottom boat. they need to be replaced and i have been looking at roller bunks. the longest ones i can find are 5'. my trailer has 3 crossmembers so theres room to attach them, but is this enuf support for my boat. it weighs 2225 including single axle trailer, can the shorter roller bunks support that much weight.

my only real problem with my carpet bunks is that they are on the tilt brackets, and eventually the bunk falls to the side. are there brackets that dont tilt? or could i make some? or is there some reason that i need them to tilt even tho i have a flat bottom boat.

thanks.

Re: Roller bunks

stay with bunks, and tighten the bolts on the swivel bracket where the boat likes it. i hate loose swivel bunks, and rollers.

Re: Roller bunks

tightening the bolts dosent work for very long. with it being a flat bottom everytime i winch it up it has some lateral movemnet across the bunks as it centers itself. that causes the bolt to lossen and eventually they fall to the side. so i was thinking that this time i would put a couple tack welds around the swivel......unless there is a reason i'm unaware of to have them swivel.

Re: Roller bunks

why not put some guide on on the trailer. then it can only load centered.
