Just curious........

How much HP is gained by roller rockers.....if any

How about 1.5 vs. 1.6 ratios??

EDIT: I know it's in the wrong forum........but can't move it.

Re: Roller Rockers

Just going to rollers, probably couldn't detect an increase. Going to 1.6 ratio, maybe a little. If you have the stock vortec and stock roller cam, going to 1.6 means clearance issues at the valve seal and spring retainer clearance.

Re: Roller Rockers

negligible increase at the rpm range where marine engines operate with roller rockers...

the 1.6:1 rockers have the effect of adding a very small amount of lift to the cam.... IMHO not worth messing with..... on a race car where .01 seconds in the quarter mile matters you do everything you can but on a pleasure boat you could spend $500 and have a top speed of 47.3 instead of 47.2.... the money would be better spent on a good prop or a couple tanks of gas.

again, just IMHO

Re: Roller Rockers

To be fair... roller rockers make quite a bit of difference in some cases, but you wont notice it in a other wise stock boat. Here is a good article where they actually change out rockers in a back to back test on a small block. Look at the average numbers for the "pro comp" rockers. You can search around and find similar tests where they try 1.5 vs 1.6 and even mix them up intake and exhaust.

Here is one on a 383 where a 1.52 procomp added 17 hp over a stock 1.5
