Rope Transom Seal on OMC...

I am going to be re-installing the motor and transom bracket after a long repair replacing the transom on a 1993 Chris Craft Concept BR217 with a OMC outdrive. Is the rope seal a dry fit with a little sealant where it meets or should you put sealant in the groove and on the seal where it meets the transom? Which sealant is recommended? Thank you.

A rubber cement or even bellows adhesive will hold the seal in the groove of the transom shield. No sealant requiered between the seal and the transom itself, however, lots of people like to use 5200, but it's not necessary. DO NOT use any type of sillycone.
