rough acceleration and loses power sometimes

I have a 1991 Malibu euro f3 with a Mercruiser bluewater 5.7 Chevy 350

This summer it has been having some acceleration issues and at times will lose power at speed. It idled rough for a while early in the season but I adjusted the idle speed and it seems to idle fine now. Sometimes it will accelerate fine and other times it seems as if it is not getting enough fuel. Sometimes it will drop in power when running at higher RPMs and then come back up. Sometimes it seems to run fine and then other times it will run rough, tonight it ran so bad I could not get a ski in. I did run out of gas last week and had to refill the fuel filter with gas to get it to start again, but it ran fine the one day I used it after running out.


Any ideas?

If it's starvin' for Gas, 'n it sure sounds like it is, that's where ya start lookin' for water, 'n crud,.....

I changed the fuel filter, there wasn't any water the fuel but a little bit of crud, seemed to run fine for a bit (but it does that anyway) running rough again this evening.
