I have the 75 ELPTO in the water and I am unable to smooth out the idle. Things that I have done prior to launching include:
1. new water pump
2. drained fuel tank (siphoned), added 10 gallons of fresh gas
3. changed fuel filter
4. New plugs
5. Changed oil (lower end)
6. Drained oil tank and added fresh 2 cycle oil
7. Removed carbs, disassembled and cleaned, re-assembled and installed
8. New primer bulb and hose from fuel tank
Last thing I did was the carbs in the hopes that cleaning them would help my idle problem. The engine starts fine, gets up and goes without stumbling, seems to run well at high and mid range speeds, just the idle seems rough. I tried to adjust the low speed mixture as described in the manual, but with the idle already rough it is very hard to see a change when doing this adjustment. I set the needle valves at the 1 and ? turn from seated, then with the engine idling in forward gear, I would try turning the needle valve in but it was too hard to see when the engine gets rough (or rougher in my case) since it is already running rough.
I am going to install a fuel/water separator tonight when I get home from work. Not sure whether adding a stabilizer or something else? would be beneficial.
