1987 Force 35. At about 1/3rd throttle, the motor finds a zone where it seems to be misfiring, sputtering and generally having a real bad time. Is this where the low speed jet switches to the high? The motor runs fine with no misfires when either above or below this range. Is this normal?

On another note, the motor smokes a lot sometimes. I noticed it on it's first water trial, going at a slow speed after a while I'd see a lot of blue/grey smoke. Is that normal? I brought it back to idle and let the smoke clear. Then I ran it at a higher speed and the smoke didn't come back. The motor doesn't seem to be too hot when this happens. I can still touch and hold my hand on the hottest part of the powerhead when this happens.

Have you ever decarbed your engine or cleaned your carb? You should do both as well as replace the spark plugs? You can find the procedure for decarbing on the second page of the FAQ in the maintenance section.
