I have a Glastron gx 185 ski and fish with a Volvo Penta 4.3 L. I just bought it. The tach is not working. I have checked the fuses under the console and they all look to be in tact. I did notice that there were some white wires that had cracked insulation back at the motor on the outdrive. They looked like they lead to the driver side of the outdrive. I am not sure if these two things are related, but I guess I want to give all the info that I can. I will trace the white wires to see where they go, but I thought any help would be great.

Thanks,
Peter

Sorry about that, I was not sure where the post should go.

Your tach signal wire should go to the coil on the engine rather than the out-drive as it measure the rpm of the engine not the prop. It should also be a single wire, coming off the tach lead on the coil.

The tach should have a +12v for the lights, and a ground as well as a tach signal post, verify the connections are tight. If everything checks out good you could have a bad tach.
