rpm question

i have a 2005 merc 60 horse jet i was told its ok to run it wide open that the throttle control only takes it to a safe max rpm is this true and is it ok to troll with this motor for extended periods its a two stroke three cylynder.<br />allso do you recomend i disconnect the oil feed and mix the fuel<br />thanks to all the more replys the better

OK Louie, it would help if you indicated the rpms your turning at max. My '91 50hp turns about 5000, it has a full throttle stop screw that limits the rpm's. If you look at your linkage without the motor running and the throttle at wot, you should be able to see it if so equipped.<br /><br />I would think excessive trolling is not good for the motor. But I have a kicker for trolling. Otherwise too much speed.<br /><br />Many on here say premix the oil, just as many others say the auto system is good. So it's what ever you feel comfortable with.<br /><br />Jerry
