Hey all. Just got myself a 2000 larson 186 SEI BR, it has a MerCruiser engine. I'm trying to find info on it, typical owner stuff, like what RPM should I run it, oil type for the engine, etc. Is there a place to find manuals online, or anywhere? Thanks

There are online manuals . . . take a look in the stickies for the engine/Mercruiser section. I have been able to get online manuals by Googling, but the sites that have them seem to be fewer and fewer.

Your boat should be set up to reach its maximum RPM range. You will have to find out what RPM is best for cruising, etc. Typically, folks find that they run somewhere in the 3K RPM range. You will find your own 'best' range.

I am not an oil connoisseur, but the engine is often marked with the oil weight . . . 20W-50 is pretty common these days, but older engines were 10W-40, 'cuz that is about all there was.

You will find good info on the engine . . . the boat itself, probably not so much, but much of the wiring in a boat is based on the engine.

what motor? a 3.0 WOT is 4400-4600 RPM, a 4.3, 5.0, and 5.7 will be a bit higher. cruise speed will be engine/hull/prop dependent.

20W50 quicksilver or 15W40 rotella T4

check the stickies

20w50 would be an unusual oil weight for a normal engine I’d think. Is it not 25w40 is the norm (according to mercury anyway).
All silly anyway. The same engines with a VP badge say 15w40. Go figure.

Cool! Thanks guys! I'm sure it's a 150hp, 3.0L V6.

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,..... Which motor, Really,..??

The 3.0l is an Inline 4, at 'bout 140 hp,....

Merc's only V-6 is the 4.3l, 262 cid, at 175 to alittle over 200 hp,.... depends on the carb on it,......
