1976 AMF Crestliner, My friends boat has either a 302 Ford or a 351 Ford with 233 horse in it. He just got the boat and put new points and plugs in it. Did some other unrelated repairs and went for a ride. The boat ran great the 1st time out and back. Now we are losing the rpm's it is only running about 2600 when it was running 3200 and it 's not planning out like it should. Can you help.

351 Ford with 233 horse ...... Yes..
302 Ford is 188 horse...
If you guys Really Thought The boat ran great the 1st time out and back. , Then you'll Never Believe the Performance of your boat when you get that 351 to turn the 44/4600rpms it's Supposed to Spin.......

Your Buddy needs a Full,+ Complete engine Survey + Tune-up..... I suspect a Fuel related Issue....

Re: RPM

i'm not completely positive, but i think i saw somewhere on this forum or marinemechanic.com that the pre-80's ford v8's ran high 3000's/low 4000's. Might wanna look into that to be sure.
