Hi All, What is the correct RPM at WOT for a 2002 90hp 2-stroke Yamaha? Right now I'm turning 4600-4800. I'm thining it should be more in the 5's. I recently replaced the throttle cables and I think it might need to be adjusted. My reasoning behind this, throttle respeonse time is slow, as if there is play in the cable. Any suugestions? Thanks, Rich

according to the manual, it is 4500-5500.
I would run it at 5500. To see if the throttle cable is the culprit, take off the hood, then the air box , to see if the carb butterflies open fully when the gas lever is in full forward.

Thanks Ivar. My chore for the weekend. I have a feeling the engine can run more RPM.

some questions:
Did you get more rpm's before swapping throttle cables , or has it always been down on rpm?
What kind of boat is it, what prop you got and what speeds are you getting? Could also be be that the engine is mounted too low, creating too much drag , or that the prop has too much pitch.

Hi,
If You do not have the Owners manual that is supposed to be shipped with the outboard when it is new you can view (and also download it as PDF) here:

Link

(View Owners Manuals)
