RTV Sealer Merc 115

In my repair manual it says to apply a bead of RTV sealer as shown. After an impeller replacement. Should this be dry before lower unit is installed. What does this bead do. Is it o.k.to use the same one that is there already? What type of sealer is RTV. Is it just silicone. Thanks First timer.

rtv is a black silicone that you can pick up at any parts place ,go ahead and bolt everything up and let sit for 2 hrs to dry and then you may start,do not use anything but this

ThankYou FPCTIM, What is the purpose of this bead of RTV. If the existing bead is intact ' should I remove it and use a new bead?
