Hello, I am getting to the part of my resto where I need to be thinking about what kind of rub rail to install on the boat, only problem is it never had one on when I got it, so I am wondering what type of economical rub rails are out there to install on my boat. The rub rail is the sandwich type where one flange sits directly on top of the lower rail. Also, I have no Idea how you secure these rubrails on joints such as this one, as this boat is a 1959 fiberglass Runabout. Also, the inside had some trim piece running around the interior edge of the topcap. This one is all chewed up and I am wondering where I can find something similar as a replacement as I need one.

Thank you,
Chris

Re: Rub rail and Trim piece

Is that picture from the inside or outside of the boat. If its not the outside then try to get a picture of the joint on the outside of the boat. This will help folks give you a little better advice hence its difficult to give advice on something when your guessing what your dealing with. I know the shoebox style joints usually have screws or rivets securing the rubrail but if yours is the opposite style joint im not sure. But some more pics would definatly help out some. Plus we love to see what the whole project your working on looks like! ;)
