I just purchased a complete fresh water gimbal housing and noticed what appears to have been rubbing on the lower starboard
side of the gimbel ring. it runs along the bottom from forward to aft as if the out drive would have caused it from trimming in and out
I was wondering what could have caused this and if in anyone's opinion would it effect workability I looked on the outdrive there
was no sign at all of wear or chaffing. trying to attach a photo but n.g.

Modified the thread title to be more descriptive than "

Click on Forum Help in the sig below and look at the Photo Posting Tutorial. The problem may be that you need 3 posts to remove the photo attachment restriction for new members, which you have met now.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Pretty much normal,....

Prop thrust pushes the drive that way,....

Ya don't say what drive, but the Alpha, Gen.IIs use plastic wear plates in that location,....

Thanks for the response its a bravo 1 drive with a 454 engine/ I looked at the drive with no markings on the drive
just wondering if the anode might have been placed on the forward end chaffing when drive was trimmed

I see a raised area on what I see on the web site I don't know if its anything other than part of the housing itself
is it suppose to be a plastic pad or cushion? thanks

Check the transom housing and drive serial numbers. You may have a new drive in an older gimbal housing, hence no 'rub marks' on the drive.
