Have recently purchased a 2nd hand Rude Ram 115 on an 18ft Bowrider, my 1st ever boat! So it is with great pleasure that I found this site which has been so informative and educational to say the least.

Hope you can help me here.. Went to a lake near us this morning, involved a trip along some very bad bumpy dirt strip roads.
When we got there I noticed that the trim motor had some how managed to click itself on and had been trying to lower the motor …(trailering bracket had been engaged for towing)

One touch of the trim switches on the engine stopped the tilt motor. The tilt motor was extremely hot to touch.
Was a bit bemused as to how this could have happened? as there was nothing in the boat or near the buttons on the engine housing that could have activated the trim buttons?

To Cut A L S S : engine now raises itself with great difficulty ( sometimes stops all together) and lowers itself in arthritic jumps…
Q?? What has happened here? And what do I do to rectify the problem.

I have the following info on my engine that may be of help:
Serial No 60477284-0
Model No E115FPL SSH
Recent 100hr service recorded:
110% compression?
Air 4.10
Water 4.37
ECU/Emm0.46
ECU Serial No 10318
Date Code 13 JY
S/V 3030078
PCN 13549 MAP 108115

All of the above is gobbledygook to me. If anything untoward.. Hope someone out there can advise accordingly.

Dilip Ratanje
Harare
Zimbabwe
