Rude 15hp Bogs down

Helping out a buddy diagnose and fix bogging problem on his outboard.

Pumps water perfectly, starts up in 2 pulls, idles well, shifts well, but when in forward and given gas it starts to bog and eventually dies.

I'm thinking clean carb, but maybe some here can pitch in solution.

take the carb off and clean the jets or give it some seafoam to see if that helps but jets need to be cleaned

See if you can keep it running with the hand primer (test fuel pump). If rebuilding pump, get a parts blow up to see assembly (pretty sure you can find service info here: http://boatinfo.no/lib/evinrude/manuals/1992-2001johnsonevinrude.html#/254 ) Believe the kit for that pump is available, if a little pricey.

would check fuel pump before rebuilding carb (and would stay away from seafoam for a suspected carb issue, unless using it to soak parts.)
