rude cooling

hi guys ,can you help,had a cooling prob on rude88 20hp smoke and everything .i took the water jacket off and found a rusty tstat and also the tell tale tube to the engine was blocked,i have remedied all of these and now have strong pee,is this all i need to do.and also the two holes on the front of the block are they exhaust holes and what is supposed to come out of them,thanks i am very new at this...

I would also replace the water pump while your're at it. Those 2 holes are the exhaust relief holes and should have water spitting out of them at idle. Do not run the motor without a water supply to the lower unit, whether it be in a barrel or on muffs.
