My new rule float switch is hanging. Boat had a gas leak on my cool fuel module from a line not put on correctly. After cleaning up the gas an fixing the leak, the float will not move real easy. I would just replace it again but its under the engine and getting to it will be a bi**h. I can reach it and have flipped it up/down a lot and it moves easier but still hangs. If it hung only in the up position I could live with it, but it also does it in the down. Have any ideas of how to free it up.

AllDodge, what you just posted is the exact reason I will never have any float type bilge switch in my boats. I build sensor type switches and used them for decades without any issues ever. And they use zero power until the pump turns on as well. I posted that circuit on here before, and will again if anybody is interested... I would remove that suspect float switch being how it seems to have been compromised from the fuel leak. Sounds like the plastic could have melted a little from the gas/oil mixture making it stiff to move now... JMHO!

I've used the electronic sensor switch before to also have them fail. Need a way to fix this and hopefully without removing it. The float part does come off, but again real hard to get to. Could take it off and use some sand paper on it. The guy that caused the fuel issue to begin with didn't even offer to fix it

I prefer the Rule type switch too, AD. Just a magnet in the float and a mercury switch. If you can Houdini yourself in there and get the float off, sandpaper should to it. A little relief on the pins and the pivot holes should do the trick.

If I look over your way and see blue air, I'll know you're working on it. :mad-new:
