Not nessesary for short term storage.....If you are unsure of when you will get back out, add some Stabil to the fuel...

Seems to me if you run the fuel out of the carb. the wetting and drying effect will cause more varnish buildup that just leaving the fuel in it?

We run the fuel out every time we use our boat. We've never had a carb get clogged. Don't bother if you are taking it out the next day, week or even month. Sometimes its 6 months between outings for some of our boats. Stabil works wonders, we are currently running a tank with 2 year old gas and it works great.

Our mechanics always told us run the gas out. So we do.
