'93 Yamaha 25hp C25ELRR that I picked up cleaning out a warehouse. I have no controls or other electrical, the throttle connection on the starboard side is broken off. The multi-pin plug is the only thing coming through the cowling besides the fuel connection. I know I need a fuel tank with premix but what else do I need to try and see if it runs? It has a pull start; do I still need a battery?

No, I haven't gotten a manual for it "yet." Will a Clymer suffice?

Thanks,
Michael

Re: Run it on a test stand?

Pull the plugs and connect the outside to the motor case. You can have someone pull the starter handle while you hold the plugs against the motor case.
If you have good sparks at the plugs clean and refit them. Connect a primer bulb fuel line to the motor. If you use a fuel line with the tank end off you can stick it in a gallon jug of 50:1 mix. Put the lower end in a tub of water up well over the cavitation plate. Prime the carbs with the primer bulb open the throttle a little, close the choke and pull the cord.
If it fires dont run it for more than a few seconds. The compressions will need checking before going any further. If the compressions are good then it is worth cleaning the carbs, servicing the lower unit and doing everything else.

Much abliged... :)

I think it's been run recently (within a year or so) but was sent back to the shop to fix the broken external throttle linkage.

Thanks,
Michael
